A characteristic description of a patient with urticaria is the appearance of a wind-blown mass on the body. The reason for the appearance of red wind masses on the body in urticaria is due to a temporary increase in vascular permeability of the skin mucosa in the presence of local irritation and the appearance of limited edema. As the allergic reaction slowly subsides, the puffiness can subside on its own. However, in some patients, if the allergic reaction persists, the flushes can recur or persist. There are many causes of urticaria, including food, medications, respiratory inhalants, skin contact, and cold, heat, sunlight, and stress stimuli.
