What is keratosis pilaris?

  Keratosis pilaris, also known as keratosis pilaris, is a condition in which the epidermis becomes dry and chapped due to hyperkeratosis, which may be painful or itchy.  The common symptoms of the disease are localized abnormal hyperplasia of the skin stratum corneum, accompanied by epidermal erythema or rash, dry surface skin, scaling and cracking, some patients do not feel discomfort, while others have an itchy or mild pain in the affected area. The cause of keratosis pilaris is not yet clear, most of them are related to genetics, the onset is slow, the treatment is difficult, try to do the etiological treatment as much as possible, but at present the main focus is on symptom control, but also can be treated with drugs, such as the use of topical ointments, specific drugs to consult the doctor.  The susceptible groups of skin keratosis are adolescents and children, prevention is more important than treatment. When the climate is dry, pay attention to prevent excessive moisture loss from the skin, do not bathe too often, and apply skin care oils or products after bathing. Avoid exposing your skin to direct sunlight for too long, or use sunscreen.  Skin keratosis as a class of chronic skin disease, clinical manifestations often vary depending on the type of disease and the site of involvement, can be diffuse or localized changes. Preventive lifestyle habits can greatly improve symptoms.
