Do I have to scrape my uterus if I have a thick lining?

Thick endometrium does not necessarily require curettage, but requires specific judgment of the patient’s condition and reasonable treatment. The thickness of the endometrium depends on which period of the menstrual cycle it is in. If it is in the secretory phase, the endometrium can reach about 15mm, which is within the normal range, and usually with the next menstruation, the endometrium can return to normal after shedding. If it is abnormal endometrial thickening, it is considered to be caused by endocrine disorder and hormone disorder, etc. Conservative treatment can be carried out first, using progesterone and other drugs under the guidance of doctors for regulation. If the effect is not obvious, pathological examination through scraping is needed to clarify the nature of hyperplasia and exclude the possibility of endometrial cancer. For patients with endometrial thickening, if the bleeding time exceeds 15 days and medication is ineffective, diagnostic treatment by curettage is recommended. In contrast, adolescent females can be treated with combined estrogen and progestin therapy, which is more effective, and attention should be paid to regular review of ultrasound to observe the thickness of the endometrium.
