What is the difference between an air sac and an alveolus?

Air sacs and alveoli are both diseases of the lungs, generally manifested as chest tightness, shortness of breath, discomfort and other symptoms, the main difference between the two is that the formation of these two diseases are not exactly the same cause and pathogenesis.

1. Formation causes: air sacs are usually formed congenitally, and alveoli are usually formed later.

2. Pathogenesis: air sacs are caused by abnormal embryonic development during pregnancy and may remain in the body since the baby’s birth; alveoli are caused by increased pressure in the alveoli due to certain reasons at a later stage, forming gas-filled sacs inside the lung tissues, and are commonly seen in chronic bronchitis and other diseases.

Patients suffering from air sacs and alveoli need to go to the hospital for regular checkups to clarify the cause of the disease, and be treated accordingly on the advice of the doctor.
