How are patients with LSIL treated?

In patients with LSIL, diagnostic hysterectomy or cervical ablation is not appropriate as a primary treatment in the absence of CIN detection. Follow-up with HPV testing at 12 months or repeat cervical cytology at 6 and 12 months is appropriate. If the HPV-DNA test result is negative, or if two consecutive repeat cytologies are negative, a return to routine screening is recommended. Colposcopy is recommended if HPV-DNA test results are positive, or if repeat cytology results are ASCUS or higher grade.
