What are the symptoms of cataracts?

The term “cataract” in Chinese medicine should include a variety of corneal lesions, trachoma, cataracts, and some other internal and external ophthalmopathies that directly or indirectly affect changes in corneal transparency.
The symptoms of cataract according to subtypes include cataracts of different sizes and thicknesses, blurred or impaired vision, headache and fever, yellowish-white tongue, reddish tongue with little moss, dark tongue with petechiae, stringy pulse, numbered pulse, fine pulse, astringent pulse, etc. The symptoms of cataract can be divided into wind-heat, qi-fever, and chi-fever. Cataracts of the eyes can be categorized into wind-heat, qi and blood stagnation, and yin deficiency of the liver and kidney (deficiency of yin in the liver and kidney).
1. For the wind-heat type, it is mainly caused by external wind evil, which enters into the wei component and invades the eye system. It is mainly manifested as cataracts of varying sizes and thicknesses, covering the pupils, accompanied by blurred or impaired vision, leading to headache and fever, yellowish-white tongue coating, and number of strings in the pulse.
2. Qi and blood stasis type is often due to stagnation of Qi and blood in the eye system, often associated with severe mental stimulation or trauma, cataracts may cover the pupil, often with blurred vision, sighing, dizziness, headache, dystocia (pain in the area of ribs and coats of arms) and easy to be angry, with a dark red tongue with petechiae and a stringy pulse.
3. Liver and kidney yin deficiency type is often due to kidney yin deficiency, the kidney water can not moisturize the eyes, often manifested as dry eyes, blurred vision, lumbar and knee soreness (lumbar and knee soreness and weakness), tinnitus and dizziness, red tongue with little moss, and thin pulse.
