Symptoms of abdominal metastasis after gastric cancer surgery

The presence of abdominal metastasis after gastric cancer surgery means that the tumor is advanced. The site of metastasis includes substantial organs in the abdominal cavity such as liver and pancreas, and cavity organs such as small intestine and colon. The symptoms appear mainly include two major categories: First, symptoms of gastrointestinal tract, manifested as abdominal pain and discomfort, which can appear as complete or incomplete intestinal obstruction, manifested as abdominal pain, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, and even anal stoppage of defecation and exhaustion, and poor nutritional status usually accompanied by ascites. Second, liver metastasis appears, which can be manifested as weakness, hypoproteinemia, a large amount of leakage fluid in the abdominal cavity, increased ascites, and when the destruction of liver cells is serious, there can be symptoms such as elevated transaminases, jaundice, and even prolonged coagulation time.
