Most headache symptoms occur due to abnormal dilation and constriction of blood vessels in the brain or headache due to ischemia and hypoxia in the brain. When a patient has a headache accompanied by chest pain, it is considered that the patient may have a heart-related disease and may have angina pectoris. Due to insufficient coronary artery blood supply, the heart muscle may have reduced inner beats for a short period of time, and there is insufficient blood supply to the brain and symptoms of ischemia and hypoxia in the brain leading to headache. Patients should have an electrocardiogram and, if necessary, an 18-lead electrocardiogram to avoid the patient’s heart attack from being missed. Myocardial enzymology should also be done and the patient should be monitored by ambulatory electrocardiogram.
