Where are the lymph nodes in the body?

Lymph nodes are an important part of the lymphatic system and are found in all parts of the body. They mainly collect and filter lymphatic fluid from lymphatic vessels and are a part of the defense mechanism of the lymphatic system. Although the distribution of lymph nodes in the body is systemic, it is not balanced. Superficial lymph nodes are mostly found behind the ears, under the jaw, near the clavicle, near the carotid artery, as well as in the armpits and the groin, and all of the above are the densely populated areas of superficial lymph nodes. The presence of enlarged lymph nodes in the corresponding areas generally suggests an infectious condition in the area where the lymph fluid is collected.
