What’s wrong with my chest?

The chest pain is not excluded from spontaneous pneumothorax, but is accompanied by chest tightness and significant shortness of breath. It is more common in young patients with tall and thin body types, especially in middle and high school students, and is associated with rapid growth. The occurrence of pneumothorax also has certain triggering factors, such as strenuous exercise or loud shouting. Elderly patients with habitual constipation, the original underlying cardiac chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can also induce the appearance of pneumothorax. Then the main manifestations are localized pain, chest stuffiness and swelling, and in severe cases, dyspnea, decreased or absent breath sounds on auscultation, and chest X-ray examination can also confirm the diagnosis. Mild patients can choose conservative treatment, including oxygen and anti-inflammatory treatment. In severe cases, surgical drainage is a further option.
