Progressive stage of rectal cancer refers to the period when rectal cancer is in the process of development and deterioration, and infiltration and metastasis will usually occur. Cancer lesions in the progressive stage of rectal cancer usually invade the muscular layer, even penetrate the intrinsic muscular layer to the rectal parietal tissues, and regional lymph node metastasis, or distant metastasis, such as ovaries, lungs, livers, and other organs or parts, may also occur. The prognosis and survival rate in this period is poor compared with the early stage, and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy is recommended to eliminate the residual lesions and prolong the survival period. If diagnosed with advanced stage of rectal cancer, it is recommended to consult doctor in time and actively cooperate with doctor’s treatment in order to improve prognosis and prolong survival.
