The typical symptoms of gastric cancer do not include stomach hunger. On the contrary, patients with gastric cancer mainly show symptoms such as loss of appetite, anorexia and early satiety after eating, in addition to epigastric pain, nausea and vomiting, black stool and difficulty in swallowing, etc. The clinical manifestations of gastric cancer often lack specificity, so they need to be combined with occult blood test, medical history and imaging examination to make a comprehensive judgment. The common symptoms of gastric cancer are as follows: 1. loss of appetite: patients with gastric cancer have the typical cachexia of cancer due to the decline of physical function, and cachexia is a wasting syndrome mainly based on loss of appetite and muscle consumption; 2. epigastric pain: epigastric pain often appears in the progressive stage of gastric cancer, and the pain manifests as distension, hidden pain or burning pain, which is often clinically distinguished from peptic ulcer and gastritis, and the pain in the epigastric region will worsen after eating; 3. Nausea and vomiting: when gastric cancer occurs, when the stomach is poorly filled, malignant tissues may invade to the esophagus, and nausea and vomiting may occur after eating due to obstruction and stimulation caused by tumor; 4. black stool: black stool of gastric cancer patients is mostly related to stomach bleeding, and for patients whose gastric cancer has developed to advanced stage, black stool and stomach bleeding may occur, indicating that the cancer cells have spread and the patient’s condition has worsened; 5. Difficulty in swallowing: Due to the continuous proliferation and metastasis of gastric cancer cells, the body’s energy consumption is too great. For gastric cancer in the cardia region, there will be difficulty in eating in the early stage, which may evolve into difficulty in swallowing and food reflux with the continuous development of the disease. There are many reasons for stomach hunger, besides not eating enough, patients with hyperthyroidism often experience hunger due to increased basal metabolic rate. Diabetic patients also experience hunger due to impaired glucose metabolism. In addition, diseases such as gastritis and gastric ulcer also cause a more pronounced feeling of hunger. Therefore, it is important to go to the hospital for relevant examinations in a timely manner when hunger pangs appear for a long period of time, so that symptomatic treatment can be carried out after a clear diagnosis.
