The lower eyelid jump is also clinically known as ophthalmoplegia, which is mostly due to eye fatigue or overuse of the eyes, resulting in increased excitability of the muscles around the eyelid, and can also be caused by compression of some of the blood vessels. The lower eyelid jump can usually be relieved by eye massage or rest. If necessary, the patient may be given an electromyogram, which may show myoclonic potentials, and may be given oral carbamazepine, B vitamins, and neurotropic agents. If the patient’s symptoms are severe, closure therapy can be performed if necessary. If medical treatment is not effective, the patient can consult neurosurgery for surgical treatment by microvascular decompression.
