What to do if you have diarrhea after a kidney transplant

Diarrhea after kidney transplantation may be caused by weakened resistance and weakened intestinal function, which can be treated by adjusting diet and using medication as prescribed by doctor.
1. Adjust the diet: due to the reduced resistance of patients, patients should pay attention to clean and hygienic diet, focusing on less residue, easy to digest food, avoiding cold, multi-fiber, strong taste of stimulating food. If acute diarrhea occurs, fasting, fluid, semi-fluid or soft food should be given according to the condition and medical advice.
2. Medication: If the patient’s diarrhea is serious, anti-diarrhea medication such as montelukast, alkaline bismuth carbonate tablets, etc. should be used, and at the same time, depending on the patient’s specific condition, intravenous infusion therapy should be performed to replenish water and electrolytes, or antibiotic therapy should be used to fight infections.
If patients after kidney transplant have long-term diarrhea or other uncomfortable symptoms, they should go to the hospital in time, and under the guidance of the doctor to clarify the cause of the disease and give appropriate treatment.
