What to look for in targeted drug therapy

Targeted drugs are more effective in inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and controlling tumors. It is more effective for kidney tumors whose pathological nature is clear cell carcinoma. However, the side effects caused by it should not be ignored. The more common side effects include weakness, poor appetite, hypertension, diarrhea, skin reactions on hands and feet, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, liver function impairment, and hypothyroidism. Therefore, patients taking targeted drugs need to be followed up in the outpatient clinic every month to check the corresponding side effects. For serious side effects, timely treatment should be given, including drug discontinuation, drug dose reduction, anti-hypertensive drugs, raising white blood cells and platelets, correcting liver function damage and hand and foot skin protection treatment, etc., so as to achieve a balance between tumor control and alleviating side effects and improving quality of life.
