Toothache in a three-year-old child may be caused by caries, pulpitis, apical periodontitis and other diseases, which need to be treated with medication, surgery and other treatments according to the cause of the disease.
1. Caries: typical symptoms are cavities in the teeth and pain to sweet, sour, hot and cold stimuli. The tooth tissue has been defective, need to consider the composite resin direct bonding restoration or amalgam filling.
2. Pulpitis: mainly manifested as spontaneous tooth pain, night pain and so on. If the pulp is to be preserved, direct or indirect pulp capping or pulpotomy should be adopted; if the tooth is to be maintained, root canal treatment should be adopted.
3. Periapical inflammation: common symptoms include swollen gums and tooth pain. When the spread of inflammation is obvious, children need to use antibiotics such as cefuroxime, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen as prescribed by the doctor. In the acute stage, the pulp can usually be opened and drained, and if pus has already formed, incision and drainage are required. Surgical treatments such as root canal therapy and pulpal blood flow reconstruction are also required.
When the three-year-old child toothache need to go to the hospital, complete the relevant examination, cooperate with the doctor active treatment. Drugs should be used as prescribed by the doctor.
