Constant eye discharge after cataract surgery may be caused by conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis may occur after cataract surgery, usually due to the lack of attention to eye hygiene, such as rubbing or touching the eyes with dirty hands, washing the face with unclean towels and washbasins, etc., which leads to contamination of the eyes by pathogens in the external environment and infection of the conjunctival tissue. Conjunctivitis is more common with bacterial infection causing discharge, which can be treated by ordering antibiotic drops in the eye, commonly used are levofloxacin eye drops, tobramycin eye drops, moxifloxacin eye drops and so on. Specific medications should be administered under the guidance of a doctor. For patients in the early stages after cataract surgery must be treated in a timely manner, otherwise once the infection spreads to the inside of the eyeball causing endophthalmitis, it may pose a serious threat to the patient’s vision. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time to get a clear diagnosis and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
