How long does it take to walk normally with a comminuted fracture of the heel bone

Comminuted fractures of the heel bone usually take 3-4 months to walk normally, but the exact time varies from person to person. The heel bone is the weight-bearing bone of the human body. A comminuted fracture of the heel bone caused by compression mainly due to a fall from a height is accompanied by displacement of the fracture block and collapse of the joint surface, which requires timely surgery and must heal completely before the patient can walk normally. The patient’s swelling is not suitable for surgery within one week of injury, and after one week, the local swelling disappears and the heel bone fixation surgery can be performed. Therefore, patients with comminuted heel fracture should pay attention to not to put weight on the affected limb for 3 months to avoid obvious displacement of the fracture site.
