Femoral head necrosis can last for several years

Femoral head necrosis can persist for several years, depending on the degree of necrosis as well as the treatment, which should be analyzed specifically for specific problems and not be generalized. Femoral head necrosis is mainly caused by alcohol consumption, frequent oral hormone use or trauma to the hip, which destroys blood flow. Early stage femoral head necrosis is mainly due to internal cystic degeneration of the femoral head with small local ischemic foci. If the patient undergoes timely treatment and avoids weight bearing on the affected limb, it is possible to preserve the femoral head. However, if the treatment effect is not satisfactory, the scope of ischemic necrosis will gradually increase with time and enter the arthritic stage in 1-2 years, patients can choose decompression and bone grafting surgery, if not, the scope of ischemic necrosis will gradually increase and the further development of the disease will affect walking and basically cannot take care of themselves after 5 years. Therefore, patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head should go to the orthopedic department of a regular hospital in a timely manner, and a reasonable treatment plan should be formulated by a professional doctor according to the individual patient’s condition.
