The spleen and stomach meridians can be unblocked by stimulating points on the body surface through acupuncture and massage. Commonly used acupoints include Foot Sanli, Spleen Point, and Stomach Point.
1. Foot Sanli: It is one of the main points of the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian, located on the anterior side of the lower leg, 3 inches below the calf’s nose (in the lateral depression of the patellar ligament) and on the line between the calf’s nose and Xiexi (in the central depression in front of the ankle joint between the tendon of the extensor hallucis longus and extensor tootis longus tendon). Stimulating this point can achieve the effect of generating stomach qi, transforming the spleen and drying dampness.
2. Spleen Yu point: belongs to the foot solar bladder meridian, for the infusion of spleen qi, the main treatment of spleen diseases. It is located under the spinous process of the eleventh thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline. Stimulating Spleen Yu point can not only dredge the meridians, but also strengthen the spleen, harmonize the stomach, and dissolve dampness. It is used to treat a variety of stomach disorders such as bloating, diarrhea and vomiting. However, it is not advisable to stab this point deeply to avoid causing pneumothorax.
3. Stomach Yu point: belongs to the foot solar bladder meridian, for the transfer of stomach qi, the main treatment of stomach disorders. It is located under the spinous process of the eleventh thoracic vertebrae, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline. It has the effect of externally dispersing heat from the stomach and internal organs. It is mainly used to treat gastric pain, vomiting, abdominal distension and other diseases.
In addition, to dredge the spleen and stomach meridians can also stimulate the Neiguan point, the middle epigastric point and so on. Acupuncture should be operated by a professional physician, do not operate privately, so as not to cause damage to the organism. Patients with spleen and stomach discomfort should eat a light diet and avoid spicy and stimulating foods. If necessary, it can be treated with medication under the guidance of a professional physician.
