How long can you live if your stomach cancer is removed?

The survival period after gastric cancer resection depends on the stage of gastric cancer, timing of treatment, treatment plan, patient’s physical condition, and the presence of metastasis, etc. Some of them may be less than 1-2 years, while some are more than 5 years or even longer. According to statistics, the 5-year survival rate of patients with stage I gastric cancer is as high as 90%-95% after surgery, while the situation of stage IV is relatively less optimistic, with the 5-year survival rate only around 17%, which has a lot to do with the degree of development of the disease when gastric cancer is detected. If the stage I gastric cancer is found early, the lesions are small, no metastasis occurs, the patient is younger, in better physical condition, lymph node dissection, omental resection and radiotherapy and other related system treatments are performed after surgery to remove the tumor, and the patient maintains a positive attitude and proper care after surgery, and there is no recurrence, such patients generally have a high 5-year survival rate and relatively longer survival period. If the patient is already in the middle of stage 3-4 gastric cancer when discovered, even after systematic and comprehensive surgery, there is a 50% chance of recurrence and the survival period is relatively short.
