Differential diagnosis of small gait

Small gait is walking slowly, with both feet rubbing the ground. It shows small steps, dragging, slow starting or turning, and unsteady gait. Gait refers to the posture of walking. When walking, the affected foot just clicked on the ground, the healthy foot quickly started to move forward; the healthy foot touched the ground for a long time, the affected foot clicked on the ground for a short time. The nervous system plays an important role in the gait of each person, i.e., the posture of walking. When a certain part of your body system is damaged, it will show a variety of gait, and doctors can use the observation of different gait to determine the location and nature of the disease. The common abnormal clinical gait is as follows, please pay attention to the differential diagnosis with small gait: 1, scissor gait: due to the increased muscle tone of the two lower limbs, especially the extensor and adductor muscles are more obviously involved. This person walks with two knees touching each other, the two lower legs cross each other, like scissors, with a short stride, and the toes often hit the ground and walk. This gait is mostly seen in congenital stagnant birth and encephalitis, cerebrovascular accident caused by cerebral palsy and paraplegia patients. 2.Circle gait: When walking, the affected leg and knee are stiff, the foot is mildly sagging and drooping, the toes are hooked down, and when starting, the patient turns to the healthy side first and raises the affected pelvis to lift the affected limb, and when walking, the foot is thrown out and half circles are drawn. This gait is mostly seen in cerebral hemorrhage, stroke recovery sequelae. 3.Drunkard’s gait: The patient’s upper limbs often sway horizontally or back and forth, sometimes cannot stand firmly, the sway of the upper body can spread to the head, especially the sway is more obvious when moving, the center of gravity is unstable when walking, tilting from side to side, the gait is disordered, cannot walk in a straight line, like drunkenness, and cannot maintain body balance. This is mostly due to cerebellar disease, resulting in balance dysfunction.
