Blood pressure should be below 140/90mmHg at all ages, but the goal of blood pressure control is different for hypertensive patients of different ages. A normal person’s blood pressure should be stabilized below 140/90mmHg, if it is below 135/85mmHg is better, below 130/80mmHg is ideal. For people over 80 years old, the blood pressure should be below 150/90mmHg. If the underlying disease is less, it is better if the blood pressure is below 140/90mmHg, and below 130/80mmHg is more ideal. If there is a combination of cerebrovascular disease, the blood pressure should be controlled above 120/70mmHg. If the patient is in a high-risk state (diabetic, coronary artery disease patient, etc.), but the body can tolerate, the blood pressure should be below 130/80mmHg. If chronic kidney disease is present, 24-hour proteinuria should be kept below 125/75mmHg or 120/80mmHg if it exceeds 1g or more. The 2018 European Hypertension Guidelines direct that blood pressure in patients with chronic kidney disease may be relaxed to below 140/90mmHg.
