Ametinib mesylate is a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor gene mutation-positive lung cancer targeted drug. It is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have experienced disease progression on or after prior treatment with an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) and have been tested and confirmed to have a positive EGFR T790M mutation. Common side effects of this drug include rash, pruritus, elevated aspartate aminotransferase, elevated blood creatine phosphokinase, elevated alanine aminotransferase, and less common side effects include anemia, cough, proteinuria, and abnormal heart rate. Also the possible safety risks of the drug to the fetus are not known at this time, but based on the mechanism of action, the drug may be harmful to the fetus when used by pregnant women and it is recommended not to use it.
