Benign and malignant bone tumors are very different

Bone tumors are tumors that occur in the bones or their accessory tissues. There are benign and malignant, but in daily life, it is often difficult for people to distinguish them. Sometimes they may take malignant tumor as benign and miss the good opportunity of treatment; or mistake benign as malignant, which causes great mental pressure. Thus, it is very important to identify the benign and malignant tumors. So what is the difference between them? 1. Benign bone tumor usually develops slowly, without obvious early symptoms, pain and swelling are not obvious, only when it grows to a certain extent near the joint, it may cause mild functional disorder or deformity. Benign bone tumors usually have a solid, fixed mass, growing on the side of the bone end, with clear boundary, smooth surface and no pressure pain. Most benign tumors are mainly localized by scraping and bone grafting or resection, if they can be completely removed, they usually do not recur and have good prognosis. However, it should also be recognized that some benign tumors may recur or have malignant possibility after treatment, therefore, sufficient attention should be paid to benign bone tumors. 2.Malignant bone tumor develops quickly, with pain first, followed by swelling, pain persists, generally without remission period, and getting heavier. The boundary of the mass is not clear, the skin temperature is high, the pressure pain is obvious, and there is movement disorder of the joint. The surgical treatment of malignant bone tumor is now based on limb preservation, but sometimes amputation still cannot be avoided. In summary, there are many differences between benign and malignant tumors in various aspects. For benign bone tumors, patients need to pay enough attention to them, because some of them may become malignant; while for malignant bone tumors, patients need to increase their confidence, actively cooperate with the treatment and strive for better treatment results.
