Recurrent miscarriage, also called habitual miscarriage, is defined as three or more spontaneous miscarriages with the same partner. It is commonly caused by chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo, luteal insufficiency, and immune function abnormalities. 1. Embryonic chromosome abnormality. Due to the existence of abnormalities in the number or structure of chromosomes, the embryo itself is poorly developed, which is a common cause of recurrent miscarriage. For example, the likelihood of recurrent miscarriage is also increased in consanguineous marriages. 2. Luteal insufficiency. If recurrent miscarriage occurs at an early stage, it may be due to abnormal follicular development in luteal insufficiency, resulting in poor egg quality, which may also lead to recurrent miscarriage. 3. Abnormal immune function. Patients develop disorders of the autoimmune system, producing various antibodies against their own tissues and organs, and the antibodies lead to the death of the embryo. Late miscarriages are commonly associated with uterine anatomical abnormalities and pre-thrombotic states may also lead to recurrent miscarriages. In case of recurrent miscarriage, it is recommended to consult a doctor for further investigations, to identify the cause with the help of the doctor, and to carry out targeted treatment or therapy.
