Omicron BA.5 is an Omicron variant of the new coronavirus. There is no authoritative information on how harmful omicron BA.5 is, but it is more insidious and infectious than previous omicron mutant strains, such as BA.1. It has been shown that the new subtype of the omicron mutant strain BA.5 exhibits greater immune escape and significant neutralization escape from plasma following recovery of omicron BA.1-infected individuals. Symptoms such as fever, dry cough, malaise, and impairment of smell and taste may occur after infection with the new coronavirus. Most have a favorable prognosis, while a few patients are critically ill, mostly in the elderly, those with chronic underlying diseases, late pregnancy and perinatal women. If you have any of the above symptoms, it is recommended that you consult a fever clinic promptly.
