Lye burns are chemical burns. The main treatments include removing the patient from contact with poison, flushing with water, cutting scabs and skin grafting, and replenishing fluids to prevent and treat shock.
1. Let the patient out of contact with the poison: the patient should promptly remove the lye-soaked clothing, away from the source of lye leakage.
2. Rinse with water: when the patient is away from the poisonous contact, should be rinsed with a large amount of water in a timely manner, the rinsing time is at least 30 minutes. Strong alkali burns can be first towels and other lye wipe off before rinsing with a neutralizing agent, to avoid generating a large amount of heat resulting in secondary loss. After rinsing, 2% boric acid can be used to wet compress the wound and then rinse the wound with water. After rinsing, it is best to take exposure therapy.
3. Cutting scab and implantation: lye burns easily lead to the whole skin or even subcutaneous tissue damage, most need to cut scab and implantation surgical treatment to close the wound.
4. Replenish fluids to prevent and control shock: when the patient burns a large area, the depth is deeper, the patient can be a large amount of fluid loss hypovolemic shock. At this time, the patient should be rehydrated in time to prevent shock.
For patients with lye burns, after some emergency treatment, they should go to the relevant departments of regular hospitals as soon as possible, so as not to delay the condition and lead to adverse events.
