How long does it usually take to wean

Currently our country advocates breastfeeding until about two years old if the mother’s health allows it. Weaning is a process, not a point in time, but a period of time, also known as the introduction of solid foods. The introduction of solid foods starts at 4-6 months of age when the child’s weight reaches 6.5-7 kg and basic conditions are met, such as stable posture, sitting, and the ability to eat with a small spoon. If introduced too late, it will result in inadequate exercise of taste and chewing functions and impaired absorption of nutrients, leading to malnutrition. The time of complete weaning is between 10 and 12 months of age, when solid food can meet the needs of the child’s growth and development. Pay attention to the season when weaning, usually choose spring or autumn, avoiding summer weaning, which can reduce the occurrence of digestive tract diseases.
