What department to go to the hospital for chronic fever

Patients with prolonged fever can be seen in the fever clinic of a general hospital, or in the internal medicine department of a hospital without a fever clinic, or in the infection department of a large general hospital with prolonged fever. A specialist will take a medical history and perform preliminary tests for general classification. If a patient is considered to have fever caused by an infectious disease, he or she can be admitted directly to the Infection Unit, where the cause of the fever will be identified and treated accordingly. If the patient has a non-infectious fever, the cause of the fever should be determined for further triage. If the patient is considered to have a hematologic disease such as leukemia or lymphoma, the patient is recommended to be referred to the hematology department. If the fever is due to diseases such as lupus erythematosus or dermatomyositis, the patient should be referred to the rheumatology department. If the fever is caused by skin diseases, such as widespread dermatitis or ichthyosis, the patient should be referred to the Department of Dermatology for further examination to clarify the cause and treatment accordingly.
