A gurgling sound when rubbing the eyes is a normal sound made by the eye squeezing against the surrounding tissues or by the tissues around the eye touching the wall of the eyeball. However, rubbing the eyes is not recommended.
When you rub your eyes, the eye squeezes against the surrounding tissues and there is a possibility that the sound may occur. In addition, rubbing the eye causes the tissues around the eye to rub against the wall of the eyeball, which may also make a squeaking sound. So it is normal to have a creaking sound when rubbing your eyes.
However, rubbing the eyes may cause corneal edema or corneal irregularities. Therefore, it is not recommended to rub the eyes to prevent localized damage to the eyes. If the itching of the eyes is severe or if there is any other discomfort that causes the urge to rub the eyes, the patient is advised to go to the hospital immediately.
