How to rehabilitate the pelvic floor after childbirth

With the liberalization of the national “two-child” policy, more and more mothers are pregnant with their “second child”, the arrival of the baby brings infinite joy to the family, while the recovery of mothers after childbirth is also increasingly concerned. After giving birth to two children, not only the body lost shape, but also “private parts” also suffered “ravaged”, many mothers appeared “urinary incontinence”, “uterine prolapse “The “pelvic floor pain” and other problems, this series of problems in the medical term “pelvic floor dysfunctional disease. Female pelvic floor dysfunction refers to the functional disorders caused by the defect of pelvic floor support structures, including stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and female sexual dysfunction, which are common disorders in women and affect the quality of life of patients. The prevalence in China has been reported to be 18.6%-46.5%, mainly related to pregnancy and childbirth. The physiological function and anatomy of the pelvic floor musculature is affected by pregnancy and childbirth, and is an independent risk factor for postpartum urinary incontinence. During pregnancy, the growing fetus increases the size of the uterus, increasing the pressure on the supporting structures of the pelvic floor. Natural vaginal delivery overstretches the pelvic floor muscles, nerves and ligaments, causing anal raphe, nerve damage and perineal tears. Damage to the pelvic floor muscles, if not repaired in time, can seriously affect the quality of life of the mother. Currently, pelvic floor muscle exercises and transvaginal or anal electrical stimulation are the two most commonly used methods to restore pelvic floor muscle strength. Pelvic floor muscle exercise has the effect of enhancing pelvic floor muscle support strength, improving neuromuscular function, stopping the proximal urethra and bladder base from dropping and increasing urethral pressure when intra-abdominal pressure increases. The disadvantages are: many patients are unable to contract the pelvic floor muscles correctly; poor compliance. In contrast, transvaginal or anal electrical stimulation has good compliance. However, the disadvantage is that the effect is indirect due to the use of surface electrodes and is not as effective as pelvic floor exercises . According to the existing methods combined with acupuncture features, electroacupuncture pubic nerve stimulation therapy opens a new path for pelvic floor rehabilitation. This therapy uses a special acupuncture method for four specific points in the sacral area and electrical stimulation to directly excite the pubic nerve to induce rhythmic contraction of the pelvic floor muscles, thus enhancing the strength of the pelvic floor muscles. We have used this method to treat postpartum incontinence, pelvic floor muscle relaxation, pelvic floor pain and other conditions with satisfactory results, bringing good news to many mothers.
