Can you pee out of urethral atresia?

Complete atresia of the urethra does not allow normal urination, and the inability to urinate can make the stomach swell more and be more uncomfortable, requiring emergency treatment. If urethral atresia is incomplete, there can be urethral stricture and occasionally 1-2 drops can be voided and not in a line. If you are unable to urinate normally, you should be treated urgently to draw out the urine, most commonly through a cystostomy, which is a urethra that is expanded and later placed into a urinary catheter. Most patients go through a fistula, have a urinary diversion, and then have a detailed examination to assess the length and location of the atresia after the urinary diversion has been successful.
