How to Relieve Stomach Bloating by Taking Herbal Medicine

If stomach distension occurs after taking Chinese herbal medicines, you can stop using the medicines under doctor’s guidance and take hawthorn, Chen Pi and other medicines to regulate the spleen and stomach. As some Chinese medicines are more stimulating to the stomach, stomach discomfort may occur after taking Chinese medicines, which generally varies from person to person. You can take hawthorn, Chen Pi and other medicines to move the qi and remove flatulence. 1. Hawthorn, sour, sweet and slightly warm in nature, has the effect of eliminating food and strengthening stomach (promoting food digestion and strengthening the function of stomach and internal organs), promoting qi and dispersing blood stasis, resolving turbidity and lowering fat (clearing the body of turbid substances and reducing the excess fat in the body), and is commonly used in the clinic for treating the stagnation of meat and food, distension of stomach and epigastrium, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and blood stasis and menstrual occlusion, tingling of the heart and abdomen, pectoral paralysis (stuffy pain in the chest), and heart pain, etc. It is not advisable to eat too much of it. Hawthorn should not be consumed in excess, and is not recommended for pregnant women, weak spleen and stomach, or those with excessive gastric acid secretion. 2. Chenpi, bitter, pungent and warm in nature, has the efficacy of regulating qi and strengthening the spleen (regulating qi and strengthening the spleen), drying dampness and resolving phlegm (removing phlegm in the body by drying dampness), and is commonly used in the treatment of epigastric distension and fullness, poor appetite and vomiting and diarrhea, and coughing with excessive phlegm in the clinic. It should not be taken by patients with deficiency of qi or yin and dry cough. Chinese medicines should be used under the guidance of a physician and should not be taken by oneself.
