What is the cause of sudden panic attacks?

If one has been well in the past and has a sudden onset of panic, it is possible that it is only a brief supraventricular tachycardia or ventricular tachycardia that resolves quickly. If it is short-lived and resolves promptly, it does not require special management.
If the episodes of panic are frequent and each episode is long, it is recommended to go to hospital for an ECG or ambulatory ECG; for episodes that are brief but cannot be captured on ECG, self-monitoring can be done using a small device that can record ECG; if the episodes are accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath and blackness, it is recommended to go to hospital for emergency treatment at the first opportunity to clarify the cause.
