The left ovary does not show clearly, often when the left ovary is not clearly visible through ultrasound because the bowel distention is obscured. In this case, if necessary, it is recommended that another ultrasound be done after the bowel is relieved. If the abdominal ultrasound is not clear, a vaginal ultrasound can also be performed. However, vaginal ultrasound can only be performed if the woman has a history of sexual intercourse or if she is married. The vaginal ultrasound passes directly through the posterior fornix and can give a clear picture of the pelvic cavity and can show the location of the left ovary to check for ovarian abnormalities. It is recommended that the bladder be emptied during the vaginal ultrasound so that it can be seen more clearly.
