How to massage knee pain?

Massage therapy of the knee is indicated for most patients with pain around the knee, but severe ligament tears and fractures need to be excluded. Knee pain is usually caused by damage to the ligaments and bursa around the knee joint, so manipulation should also be performed on specific pain points. Rolling and kneading are applied around the knee joint and the front of the thigh to promote blood circulation and accelerate the dissipation of hematoma, and points such as Blood Sea, Yinlingquan and Sanyinjiao can be pressed. The lateral pain points and their upper and lower parts are treated with finger rubbing, moistening and rubbing methods, and then tendon manipulation is applied along the direction of each ligament. Common pain points such as the goose foot bursa, the medial and lateral collateral ligaments and the internal and external knee eyes can be rubbed for a longer period of time. If conditions allow, the painful points of the knee joint can finally be rubbed in a lightly stretched state, with gentle rotation of the lower leg, and with extraction and flexion of the hip and knee. In addition, it is recommended to combine this with functional exercises for the quadriceps, as strengthening the quadriceps is very useful for the protection of the knee joint.
