If the foreign body sensation in the throat is obvious when swallowing saliva, there is no obvious sensation or abnormality when swallowing food, and there is no obstruction of swallowing function, and the location is mostly not fixed, it is generally considered to be caused by chronic pharyngitis. If it is accompanied by nausea and acid reflux, it is a reflux disease of the throat caused by acid reflux, resulting in mucosal edema. In this case, the main focus is to eliminate the cause of the disease, to stop smoking and drinking, to improve the working and living environment, to avoid eating spicy and irritating food and contact with irritating odors, and to apply appropriate amounts of throat-clearing and throat-suppressing herbal medicines and stomach acid suppressants. If there is still an obvious foreign body sensation when swallowing food, laryngoscopy should be completed to rule out cysts or neoplastic organisms in the hypopharynx. For middle-aged and elderly patients with prolonged foreign body sensation in the throat, laryngoscopy and gastroscopy should be completed to rule out early esophageal cancer.
