How long does it take to recover after removal of the plate

After removal of the plate, you can usually return to normal work in 4 weeks. However, the specific situation should be decided according to individual condition. Generally, if the fracture heals well after the plate internal fixation review, the plate can be removed after more than one year after surgery, and the plate is usually removed 2 weeks after surgery and gradually resumes normal work or physical labor 4 weeks after surgery. However, if the fracture is a comminuted fracture or a fracture in a special area, the time to return to normal work may need to be extended appropriately, such as humeral stem fracture, femoral stem fracture, spine related fracture, etc. The specific recovery situation should be clarified according to the review x-ray. Although the specific recovery time of patients after plate removal varies, basically the removal of the internal fixation means that the fracture has reached bony healing, at which time the activities should be strictly in accordance with medical advice. In addition, the patient should protect the wound after the plate removal to avoid wound infection, avoid strenuous exercise, and avoid eating spicy and other stimulating foods.
