What’s going on with the sleepy legs?

Sleepy legs can be caused by strenuous exercise, rheumatoid arthritis, electrolyte disorders, lumbar disc herniation and other reasons.
1. Strenuous exercise: Exercise consumes too much energy, muscle fatigue, and lactic acid buildup leads to tired legs.
2. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA): RA causes swelling and pain in the joints, which leads to a decrease in the movement of the muscles of the lower limbs, especially the legs, and symptoms such as weakness of the legs (sleepy legs). In addition, long-term use of glucocorticoid therapy for RA can cause muscle protein breakdown, so that the limb muscle thinning, muscle is gradually replaced by fat tissue, calf weakness.
3. Electrolyte disorders: the most common cause of leg weakness is potassium deficiency, i.e. hypokalemic periodic paralysis. Followed by calcium deficiency.
4. Lumbar disc herniation: central lumbar disc herniation can cause bilateral leg weakness.
There are many other causes of leg weakness, such as lack of exercise. If you are suffering from leg weakness, it is recommended that you consult a doctor as soon as possible to clarify the cause of the problem and to carry out targeted treatment in a timely manner.
