Requirements for platelet donation include: meeting the age and weight standards, a certain interval from the last blood donation, avoiding physiological periods for women, no blood-borne diseases, and no dental surgery within six months.
1. It is recommended that citizens between the ages of 18 and 55, who are in good health, donate blood voluntarily: for blood donors who meet the requirements of the health examination.
2. Weight requirement is ≥50kg for men and ≥45kg for women.
3. More than 2 weeks since the last platelet donation or more than 3 months since the last whole blood donation.
4. Women are required to suspend blood donation during physiological period and 3 days before and after physiological period.
5. People with high-risk behaviors should not donate blood: such as history of intravenous drug addiction, diseases that are transmitted through blood (such as AIDS, hepatitis C, hepatitis B, syphilis, etc.).
6. People who have had dental surgery within six months cannot donate blood.
7. The interval between two single platelet donations is generally 14 days, at least 3 months after whole blood donation before platelet donation, and the cycle of whole blood donation after single platelet donation is 28 days.
8. Platelets can only be donated if the platelet count in the donor’s body is ≥150 x 10^9/L and <450 x 10^9/L.
