Which skin conditions require avoidance of food?

Chinese people have a profound “eating culture”, coupled with the emphasis of Chinese medicine on the relationship between diet and disease, especially some dermatological patients eat the wrong food, skin problems will be more serious, so dermatological patients pay more attention to their daily diet, almost all patients will finally ask a question: what do I have Do I have anything to avoid in my diet? So here is to tell you that not all skin diseases need to be avoided, which skin diseases need to be avoided? First of all, I would like to solemnly declare that not all skin diseases need to be avoided, only some allergic skin diseases and acne patients need to pay attention to diet. Such as urticaria, neurodermatitis, pruritus, eczema, atopic dermatitis and rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, etc., the onset of which has a close relationship with certain foods. Allergic skin diseases such as dermatitis and eczema should avoid alcohol, chili, garlic, vinegar and other irritating foods and seafood intake, while acne and seborrheic dermatitis, which are related to oil secretion, should control the intake of lipids and sugar. As the saying goes, rashes are “hairy”, and some foods are “hairy” – containing heterogeneous proteins. When this particular protein is absorbed by the body, it can cause an allergic reaction. Therefore, people suffering from allergic skin diseases should limit or forbid the consumption of fishy “hair” foods such as fish, shrimp and crab, as well as poultry food and irritating foods such as onion, garlic and pepper during or for a long time after treatment. Otherwise, even in the stabilization of the skin disease, can be re-emerging. So why should you avoid these kinds of foods? This is because eating irritating peppers, onions, ginger, garlic, tea, coffee, wine, spices and other things tend to stimulate the sensory nerve apparatus, strengthen the itching sensation, while stimulating the blood vessels, so that vasodilation, congestion, skin redness, increased flow of water, dermatosis aggravated. Next is allergic dermatosis, which can be caused by many substances such as animal serum proteins, bacteria, fungi, drugs, animal fur, etc. The reason why food can cause allergic dermatosis, besides being related to the patient’s constitution, is that the specific protein (allergen) contained in the food enters the organism and causes an allergic reaction. The reaction produces a variety of chemicals that activate the allergic reaction and a rash appears. If allergenic foods keep entering the body, the rash can increase and make the condition worse. Therefore, after finding out that you are allergic to it, you should not eat this food again. Foods that often cause allergies are fish, shrimp, crabs, eggs, milk, mushrooms, etc. But some skin diseases (most of them) such as insect bite dermatitis, scabies, ringworm, etc. and immunogenetic factors such as vitiligo, scleroderma, etc., are not related to diet and do not need to avoid eating. The actual fact is that you will be able to get a lot more than just a few of these. For those who are persistent and do not heal, the food exclusion method can be used. That is, eat only light foods, such as rice, millet, soybeans, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, etc., for 3 weeks, and then add suspicious foods one by one, adding a new food every 4 to 5 days until allergy symptoms occur. For those with recurrent symptoms, the diet record method can be used, i.e., record the relationship between the type and time of food eaten and the occurrence of symptoms. It is usually important to note what was eaten in the 12 to 24 hours before the onset of symptoms. Both methods need to be repeated several times to be confirmed. However, it is not the case that the identified allergic food can never be eaten again. In some cases, after a considerable period of time, the relevant antibodies produced are gradually excreted from the body and the allergy will not occur again if that kind of food is eaten again. In daily life, it is common for some people to abstain from eating all the so-called “hairy foods”, regardless of which skin disease they suffer from or what food they are allergic to. The result is malnutrition, which affects the health of the body. Even for patients with dermatological diseases, forbidden food is not always taboo, generally after a period of stability of the skin disease, you can try to eat allergic food, starting with a small amount, if no special reaction, can gradually increase the amount and frequency. After repeated desensitization, some people can no longer have allergic reactions to the foods they were allergic to. Finally, I want to emphasize that whether or not you are a dermatologist, you should pay attention to your own healthy diet and have a reasonable and balanced diet structure, rather than blindly avoiding food.
