How to do when your baby is stuck with coins

A baby stuck with a coin is very serious and needs to be seen immediately by a medical professional to determine whether the coin is stuck in the airway or in the digestive tract. If the coin is stuck in the airway, the child will have obvious choking and coughing, shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and even cyanosis, and serious patients may suffer from respiratory and cardiac arrest due to lack of oxygen. The Heimlich maneuver for infants and children can be given according to the child’s condition during first aid. When respiratory and cardiac arrest occurs, immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required. If the patient is not yet significantly hypoxic, fiberoptic bronchoscopy can be performed immediately to remove the coin. If the coin is stuck in the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal endoscopy can be performed to clarify whether the coin can be removed depending on the condition, or if the coin can be closely observed, some children will expel the coin from the body.
