What does chronic atrophic gastritis type c2 mean?

Chronic atrophic gastritis c2 means that the atrophy of the gastric mucosa has extended beyond the gastric angle, but has not reached the cardia. Chronic atrophic gastritis refers to atrophy of gastric mucosa and glands with or without atypical hyperplasia and/or intestinal epithelial hyperplasia. It is a precancerous state and requires active treatment and regular review to avoid its progression to malignant tumor. Chronic atrophic gastritis with closed atrophy can be categorized into c1, c2 and c3 according to the scope of gastric mucosal atrophy. c1 refers to the scope of gastric mucosal atrophy is limited to the gastric sinus area, not exceeding the gastric angle area, while c3 refers to the scope of gastric mucosal atrophy spreading to the cardia area.
