What is epilepsy

What is referred to as epilepsy can be understood as epilepsy. Epilepsy is a large group of diseases of the nervous system. This group of patients has multiple seizures and is a chronic disease. The pathogenesis is the abnormal discharge of neurons in the brain, which causes twitching and numbness of the limbs, but its seizure characteristics: 1. paroxysmal seizures, which do not last too long. 2. stereotypic seizures, multiple seizures, with the form of each seizure not too different. 3. relatively short seizure duration. This type of disease requires brain imaging, preferably magnetic resonance imaging, to find out what is causing it, because some epilepsy can be found, but some cannot. If the cause is found, surgery or other treatments should be considered; if the cause is not found, or if surgery is not possible, medication should be used. The effect of drug treatment is still very good, 60%-70% of patients can be controlled by drugs, but there are still about 30% of patients who are refractory, that is, the effect of drug control is not satisfactory, or even need to do surgery.
