There are many applicable combinations of Pueraria Mirifica, such as Pueraria Mirifica can be used with chrysanthemum, cranberry, mint and other pungent and cool antidepressants for treating wind-heat colds; and with rehmannia, pollen of smallpox, and Zhi Mu for treating feverish illnesses with thirst due to injury of the body fluid, and so on. Pueraria Mirifica is a medicinal plant, and as a traditional Chinese medicine, it is sweet, pungent and cool in nature. It belongs to the spleen, stomach and lung meridians. It has the effects of reducing heat and relieving muscles (relieving evil on the surface of the skin), quenching thirst and generating fluids, stopping diarrhea and raising the yang, relieving alcohol toxicity, penetrating rashes, and invigorating the meridians and collaterals. For treating wind-heat colds, it can be used together with mint, chrysanthemum, bramble seed and other pungent and cool surface-removing medicines. For wind-cold colds with solid surface, no sweating, and malignant cold (fear of cold), it is often used with ephedra and cinnamon sticks; if the surface is deficient with sweating, malignant wind, and strong pain in the neck and back, it is often used with cinnamon sticks and bai shao (白芍). It is often used in combination with rehmannia root, pollen of smallpox and Zhimu in treating thirst due to deficiency of yin and fluids in febrile diseases. For the treatment of thirst, it can be used in combination with pollen of heavenly flower, fresh radix et rhizoma, maitake dong, etc. to clear heat, nourish yin and promote the production of body fluid; for the treatment of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, it is often used in combination with ginseng, atractylodes, and mukou; for the treatment of hemiplegia and chest paralysis, it can be used in combination with panax notoginseng, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Rhizoma Ligustici.
