How to treat arrhythmia in children

Children’s arrhythmia may be caused by physiological factors, or viral myocarditis, high fever, and can be treated with general therapy and medication according to the cause.
1. Physiological factors: under normal circumstances, the heart rate of children is faster than adults, and can reach about 70~140 beats per minute, which is usually related to factors such as high activity level and fast metabolism, so it can be observed temporarily without special treatment.
2. Viral myocarditis: when infected with coxsackie virus, small virus B-19 and other viruses, affecting the heart muscle, it will lead to a decline in cardiac function, easy to cause arrhythmia. Oral antiviral drugs such as ribavirin need to be taken as soon as possible for this disease. For symptoms of arrhythmia, bisoprolol can be taken orally.
3. High fever: If the child is currently running a high fever of more than 38.5 degrees, it may cause electrolyte disorders, which may lead to accelerated heartbeat and induce arrhythmia. At present, oral ibuprofen suspension should be taken as soon as possible to reduce the fever, and then rehydrated by drinking water and intravenous fluid inflammation, etc., in order to prevent water and electrolyte disorders.
Children’s arrhythmia should also be considered congenital heart disease, it is necessary to go to the hospital to do electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound examination to rule out cardiac diseases, but also necessary to do routine blood tests, to rule out bacterial infections, viral infections and so on.
