SPECT/PET main examination items and precautions

SPECT/PET is a special test and all tests require intravenous medications (a few are administered orally or by other methods), so please be prepared according to your test and the waiting time required by our staff. If you have any relevant imaging tests, such as (X-ray, CT and MRI, etc.), please make sure to bring them with you. 1.Cerebral blood flow tomography: take potassium perchlorate orally as prescribed half an hour before the injection of the imaging agent, and rest quietly until about 10 minutes after the injection of the imaging agent. The head should not be moved during the examination to ensure the authenticity of the image. 2, myocardial perfusion imaging (resting and loading): fast 6-12 hours before the examination, take a fatty meal (two fried eggs or 250 grams of milk) 20 minutes after the injection of the imaging agent, and develop the image within 1.5-4 hours. Breathing should be kept steady during the examination to reduce the interference of septal muscle movement on myocardial imaging. Those who have a cardiac pacemaker should inform the doctor for the reference of image analysis. 3, whole body bone imaging: barium meal and barium enema should not be done two days before the examination. In order to avoid the retention of barium in the intestine to affect the image observation. The imaging should be performed within 2-4 hours after the injection of the imaging agent. Empty urine before examination. If there is urine A stained clothes and skin, the skin should be scrubbed and the clothes and pants should be changed before examination. If you have a metal prosthesis or breast implant, you should inform the doctor of the implant site. 4.Glomerular filtration rate measurement: normal diet, drink about 300ml of water 30 minutes before the examination, and empty the urine during the examination. 5.Thyroid imaging: No special preparation is needed. The image can be visualized 30 minutes after intravenous injection of imaging agent. 6.Esophageal motor function imaging and gastric emptying measurement: Patients should fast for 6-12 hours before the examination and stop using atropine, cardiac painkillers, Desbuterol, dextran, cimetidine, famotidine and gastric motility drugs such as morpholine, Prebux, etc. as prescribed by the doctor. The examination time is 2 hours. 7.Hepatobiliary dynamic imaging: Patients should fast for 6-12 hours before the examination. The examination should be performed immediately after the injection of imaging agent, which takes 1 hour, and then decide whether to perform delayed imaging according to the need. Infants and children need to establish intravenous access in advance and be sedated. 8.Gastrointestinal bleeding imaging: Patients should fast for 6-12 hours before the examination. The examination should be performed immediately after the injection of the imaging agent and should take 1 hour. Then decide whether delayed imaging is needed according to the need. 9. “One-day” pulmonary perfusion and ventilation imaging: No special preparation is needed for the patient. First, 99mTc-DTPA is nebulized and inhaled through a ventilation device, and the lungs are immediately captured in eight positions using a SPECT plane; then, 99mTc-MAA is injected intravenously and pulmonary vascular perfusion imaging is performed. 10.18F-FDG PET imaging: fasting for 4-6 hours before 18F-FDG injection, and no beverage (except water), in order to reduce the physiological blood glucose level and reduce the serum insulin concentration to near basal level. After 18F-FDG injection, drinking water, minimal talking, minimal activity and quiet rest are encouraged. Before image acquisition, the patient should empty the bladder to limit the effect of bladder radiation dose on the renal collecting system and bladder. In case of children or patients who cannot cooperate during the examination, sedation can be used before the examination. Analgesics can be used beforehand for those who cannot cooperate with the examination due to pain. Metal objects such as jewelry, metal buttons, belts, keys, coins, etc. should be removed from the examined area before the examination. Most of the drugs used for SPECT are excreted in urine, so drinking more water after the examination can accelerate the excretion of drugs.
