How to differentiate between anaerobic and aerobic blood culture bottles

The distinction between anaerobic and aerobic blood culture bottles can be made according to the classification markings on the bottle, the color of the cap, the gas inside the bottle, and the medium inside the bottle.
1. Classification marking on the bottle: anaerobic bottles are labeled with SN; aerobic bottles are labeled with SA.
2. Bottle cap color: anaerobic bottle cap color is purple; aerobic bottle cap color is blue.
3. Gas inside the bottle: the gas inside the anaerobic bottle is nitrogen with 10% CO2, which provides a gas environment for the growth of anaerobic bacteria; the gas inside the aerobic bottle is oxygen with 10% CO2, which provides an environment for the growth of aerobic bacteria.
4. Bottle culture medium: anaerobic bottles containing 40 ml of trypticase soy broth or brain heart infusion, fungi and anaerobic nutritional additives; aerobic bottles containing 40 ml of trypticase soy broth, fungal nutritional additives.
In summary, blood culture bottles can be distinguished from anaerobic and aerobic based on the above four methods.
