What to do about tinnitus in summer

Tinnitus in summer may be caused by water in the ear canal from swimming, which leads to cerumen impaction and swelling that blocks the outer ear canal and causes otitis media, or it may be caused by Meniere’s disease, tinnitus, and other diseases. Removal of cerumen, general treatment, and medication are needed to address the cause of the problem. 1. Cerumen impaction: Cerumen completely blocking the external ear canal, especially in the summer when water enters the external ear canal due to sweating or swimming, will cause ear stuffiness, hearing loss and tinnitus symptoms. Remove the cerumen and the tinnitus will be relieved. 2. Otitis media: When bacterial infection occurs in otitis media, it can cause tinnitus on one side of the ear, accompanied by itching, hearing loss, pus and other symptoms, and need to use medication, usually 3% hydrogen peroxide to clean the external auditory canal, and then antibiotic ear drops, such as levofloxacin ear drops, and so on. 3. Meniere’s disease: this is an idiopathic inner ear disease, in addition to the symptoms of tinnitus, there are dizziness, ear stuffiness, ear swelling, nausea and vomiting and other discomforts, generally use betahistine, flunarizine and other treatments. 4. Neurotic tinnitus: If you often use headphones to listen to music and volume is too high, or in a noise-polluted environment, or taking ototoxic drugs damage to the nerves, can cause neurotic tinnitus, so you should change the bad habits of the ear, less to go to the noisy places, avoid taking medication on their own. There are other causes of tinnitus in summer, it is recommended that when tinnitus occurs and is accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, consult a doctor in a timely manner, and follow the doctor’s instructions for medication and treatment.
